As a result, informal influencers have an inordinate amount of control over employees' thoughts, morale levels, productivity levels and willingness to support change.

To identify your organization's hidden influencers and ultimately harness their power, start with a simple two-question anonymous survey. Ask your employees:

  • Whom do you turn to for information when you have trouble at work?
  • Whose advice do you trust and respect most?
